COPA Talent ID Day: Northern California's Boys Step Into the Spotlight

On July 22nd, the next class of standout talent took the field for COPA Talent ID Day.
COPA Talent ID Day brought together over 200 of the top-performing young athletes from across region. The entire event is grounded in data — every player on the field earned their spot through real performance captured by The COPA Score. By combining that objective data and player profiles with live gameplay, we’re able to give the scouts on-site a clearer, more complete picture of what each athlete brings to the game. Now, even with it’s third installment completed, the process remains the same. Use data to objectively identify talent.
That’s the whole idea behind The COPA Score: strip away the guesswork and let the data point to who’s ready. Every player starts by completing The COPA Score, a standardized assessment measuring technical, physical, and cognitive performance while factoring in physical maturation to help uncover long-term potential, not just who looks the part today. From there, each athlete gets access to their own COPA Score Dashboard — a tool to break down their metrics, see how they stack up against peers, and benchmark against different levels of play. It’s something players return to again and again, reassessing over time and supporting their development.
On-site throughout the Talent ID Day were regional talent scouts, representatives from multiple collegiate programs, and scouts from several MLS Academies — including Nashville SC, San Jose Earthquakes and Real Salt Lake — along with international representation from FC Koln.
The recruiting landscape has never been more competitive, and events like this — paired with the objective, data-backed profile The COPA Score provides — is becoming an increasingly important way for players to get seen and get their potential in front of the people who can open doors. The energy was high. The purpose was clear: create real opportunities through performance — and that’s exactly what the day delivered.

St. Stephen’s Soccer Academy | Central Midfielder
Now playing at a full-time soccer academy in Texas after growing up in the Bay Area, Jason was bright on the ball and confident in his 1v1s all day, catching the eye of plenty of scouts on the sideline. A real name to watch given his environment — a Speed of Play of 1.95 seconds has him tied for 3rd-fastest in the entire U19 Boys field.
Nicholas Fosse (2009 | 2028)
COPA Score: 90
EC Revolution | Central Defender
A returning Talent ID Day standout who impressed again a year later, Nicholas is now firmly in his key recruiting window. He showed great decision-making out of the back, delivered passes well, and defended when he needed to — no surprise given a Stress Tolerance score of 330 (4th-highest in the group) and a reaction time of 0.57 seconds (3rd-fastest of anyone at the event).
Brandon Flores (2008 | 2026)
COPA Score: 87
Project 510 | Central Defender
Over a year of experience playing in UPSL is already showing in Brandon’s game — he was a commanding presence at center back, comfortable on the ball, and unafraid to dribble into midfield to keep possession moving. One of the standout defenders of the day, backed up by a Cube Speed of Play of 1.86 seconds, the 2nd-fastest mark in the entire field.
Farhad Karimi (2007 | 2026)
COPA Score: 75
East Shore Alliance | Central Defender/Striker
Farhad was a strong presence at the back throughout the day, comfortable on the ball and clearly drawing on his experience playing at the men’s league level. His versatility also stood out, seamlessly transitioning from center defender to striker and catching the attention of scouts in both roles. As a 2026 graduate, he’s an intriguing prospect for any college program still evaluating this year’s class.
Garrett Paik (2010 | 2028)
COPA Score: 87
Mustang SC | Central Midfielder
Garrett loves dictating play from midfield — getting his foot on the ball, distributing, and looking to combine through traffic. He continues to grow and has an exciting future ahead. Backed up by a Technical Score of 95, the 2nd-highest mark in the entire U19 Boys field, he showed strong correlation between his data and execution on the field.

COPA Score: 93
River Island Surf | Goalkeeper
Owen scored incredibly high on the COPA Score and showed real athleticism during the goalkeeper warmup and throughout the games that followed. He came up with several strong saves, distributed well, and was vocal organizing his defense — backed up by a Physical Score of 93 (2nd-highest in the U19 Boys field) and a Top Speed of 20.1 mph (4th-fastest of the entire group).
Camden Gartner (2010 | 2028)
COPA Score: 90
Mustang SC | Outside Defender
An athletic, energetic outside back who loves to get forward, Camden defended well throughout the day while still posing a real threat going the other way. Benefitting from The COPA Score to unlock another exposure opportunity, on the back on trials with the Oakland Roots last year. A Top Speed of 19.9 mph (5th-fastest in the field) and a Stress Tolerance score of 333 (tied for 2nd-highest of anyone at the event) help explain why.
Riley Libonate (2009 | 2028)
COPA Score: 75
Mustang SC | Central Defender
Standing at 6’4″, Riley brings serious physical presence to the center of defense. He wins the ball well, holds up strong in duels, and was a solid, no-nonsense defender throughout the day. Beyond that he showed composure as he looked to build out with his temporary teammates for the day.
Yahir Rosas (2010 | 2028)
COPA Score: 86
Bay Area Surf | Winger
Recently signed with the San Jose Earthquakes, Yahir’s profile as a winger and attacking threat showed up throughout the day — an exciting name now on the Quakes’ Academy roster. A Speed of Play of 1.78 seconds is the fastest mark of anyone in the entire U19 Boys field. Something that was displayed throughout the games as he continuously played at speed.
Aubrey Winoto (2011 | 2029)
COPA Score: 86
Silicon Valley Soccer Academy | Central Defender
One of just a handful of 2011s playing up into this older age group, Aubrey has grown into his frame over the past few years. An impressive athletic profile, he impressed scouts on the sideline with a strong showing at center back, having come up in SF United and joining a new environment at Silicon Valley Soccer Academy.

Lamorinda SC | Central Defender
Darius showed real confidence on the ball throughout the day and was one of the many names scouts kept an eye on from the sideline. Playing for a talented Lamorinda side, he looked comfortable— backed up by a Technical Score of 98, the 2nd-highest mark in the entire U15 Boys field.
Alex Lin (2011 | 2029)

The Town FC | Winger
Already on the radar of the Earthquakes and Youth National Team staff off the back of an impressive goalscoring season with The Town FC, Alex stretched the field as a constant threat, combined well with teammates, and threatened the goals — showing just how much he’s developed over the last 12 months as a dual-sport athlete who also plays basketball at an elite level. It’s no surprise given the highest Top Speed (19.96 mph) in the entire U15 Boys field.
Otto Malo-Phung (2011 | 2029)
COPA Score: 73
Association Football Club | Central Midfielder
A tricky midfielder who played with real confidence on the ball. He still has room to grow, but he’s already been recognized by NorCal PDP, most recently playing in Gothia Cup — an exciting prospect for the future.
Ryder Popjevalo (2012 | 2031)
COPA Score: 84
Bay Area Surf | Winger
Another really exciting prospect who was discussed in depth on the sideline, Ryder posted strong scores across the board playing for a strong Bay Area Surf side. His confidence on the ball stood out, and he created opportunities from a few different positions, contributing positively throughout the day.
Fabian Wo Ching Martinez (2011 | 2030)
COPA Score: 79
Placer United | Central Midfielder
One of the most exciting players on the day. Not as physically developed yet as some of his peers in the age group just yet, Fabian still has plenty of room to grow — but he loves the ball at his feet, plays with real creativity and deception, and consistently created space for himself and his teammates. He was arguably on the ball more than any player at the entire event. Standout player for this age group.

The Town FC | Central Midfielder
One of a handful of 2013s invited to play up an age group, Maharth moved around different positions on the field and never once looked out of place, always confident in possession. His next few years will be exciting to track — no surprise given the highest Technical Score of anyone in the entire U15 Boys field (98). He showed strong control and impressive balance between feet.
Reyansh DSouza (2013 | 2031)
COPA Score: 82
The Town FC | Center Forward
Another 2013 playing up, Reyansh found himself in a few different attacking positions and impressed in each of them. He carries a good physical profile for playing at a higher level and held his own in this older age group — was one of the top scores in MLS Next for the 2025-26 season.
William Stewart (2012 | 2030)
COPA Score: 85
Bay Area Surf | Central Defender
A commanding central defender who showed elite ability in 1v1 duels, William was tested throughout the day by talented attackers and held his own every time. He showed real composure in his tackling and defending, stayed confident on the ball, and was one of the names being talked about on the sideline. A physical profile that enjoyed the ball at his feet.
John Yu (2012 | 2030)
COPA Score: 84
Unattached | Central Midfielder
A midfielder, John still showed strong throughout the day and was recognized by scouts on the sideline, playing in a few different positions along the way. Definitely a name worth tracking.

Walnut Creek Surf | Central Midfielder
A determined, driven player, Domenic moved between a few different positions and looked very comfortable on the ball before an injury cut his day short — still enough to catch the eye of scouts on the sideline. His comfort in possession shows up in the data too, with a Technical Score of 93, the 2nd-highest mark in the entire U13 Boys field.
DJ Gray (2013)
COPA Score: 67
Bay Area Surf | Winger
A talented player who’s gone from strength to strength over the last year, DJ is now heavily involved with PDP through the PDP COPA pathway, and playing at one of the top 2013 teams around at Bay Area Surf. One of the standouts of the day, much like previous events, he played with real confidence on the ball, seriously deceptive and tricky in tight areas, while also showing he’s tough and unafraid of physical contact.

Ballistic SC | Winger
Another 2014 who stood out for scouts on the sideline, Liam is one of the younger players at the event but already carries real potential — and being a lefty certainly doesn’t hurt.
Marvin Kent II (2013)
COPA Score: 67
City SC Kings County | Center Forward
One of the top performers of the day, Marvin stood out with an impressive level of composure for his age, pairing that with real athleticism and a strong ability to read the game. He controlled moments well and consistently made smart, composed decisions under pressure throughout.
Aaron Hu (2013)
COPA Score: 75
MVLA | Central Midfielder
A creative midfielder and winger with a few tricks up his sleeve for his teammates, Aaron plays for a strong MVLA side and carries a strong physical profile — but it was his feet and technical ability that really stood out, backed by strong decision-making throughout. That decision-making shows up in his data too, with a Stress Tolerance score of 335, the 2nd-highest in the entire U13 Boys field.

The youngest player at the entire event, Toshi still showed real creativity, quick decision-making, and a genuine desire to get on the ball. He’s developed a lot over the last year, playing full time with ISI Academy, and showed exciting potential both then and again today.
Zhamasseb Davari (2013)

Diablo Valley Wolves | Winger
Recognized by several scouts on the sideline, Zhamasseb showed real confidence getting on the ball in tight spaces, always looking to combine with teammates and use his voice to organize play around him.
Isaiah Russell (2013)
COPA Score: 81
City SC Kings County | Central Defender
A physically advanced player who’s gone from strength to strength over the last few years, Isaiah showed well in a few different positions throughout the day — no surprise given the highest Physical Score and 2nd-fastest Top Speed (18.2 mph) of anyone in the entire U13 Boys field.

This is bigger than one afternoon in Walnut Creek. Several names from this event are now on file with top programs, conversations that simply don’t happen without the data and the performances to back them up.
