Our goals are Specific, Measurable, & Achievable. Now let’s make them Realistic.

Goals fuel success and this blog series is dedicated to providing you with the best opportunity to achieve those goals by making them S.M.A.R.T. SMART is an acronym that stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-Bound. These together create a goal that is carefully planned, clear, and trackable – all of which are needed to set yourself up for success.

S.M.A.R.T. Goals Part I, being specific creates a concrete missiocreates a mission statement tokeep focus and provide a finish line.
S.M.A.R.T. Goals Part 2, uses measurable information to see, track, or follow a goal.
S.M.A.R.T. Goals Part 3, fuels motivation by making sure the goal is Achievable.

We have a focused end, the tools to reach it, and the motivation to get started. Part IV –Realistic establishes our ability to make it to the end.

REALISTIC
Turning your backyard into a soccer pitch can be specific, measurable, and even achievable –but is it realistic? Probably not. We don’t want to sabotage our goal from beginning with unrealistic expectations.
Take time to really analyze the goal and understand what it’s going to take to reach it. Having a lofty goal can help pushus to work harder but making it too high to reach leads to disappoint.
A realistic goal is based around your current circumstances –what is a reasonable expectation if nothing changes. But things change, so your realistic goals may have to change with them. If your goal revolves around saving money and you get a raise or lose your job, this may affect your realistic expectations. Adjust accordingly.
By having a Realistic goal, you know you are going to be able to reach that finish line if you stick to theplan.
